Advertising:

What is advertising?
Advertising is a form of communication used to persuade an audience (viewers, readers or listeners) to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services.  Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behavior with respect to a commercial offering, although political and ideological advertising is also common.

Advertising messages are usually paid for by sponsors and viewed via various traditional media; including mass media such as newspaper, magazines, television commercial, radio advertisement, outdoor advertising or direct mail; or new media such as websites and text messages.

Research conducted from textbooks- this has allowed me to understand the different types of adverts and the different markets you can target, this will be something that I will have to think about.

The representation of the product or the user is very significant, also how this effects the target audience does it provoke the audience  to buy the product?

  1. Good start Ellie - I like the inclusion of the scanned pages. The annotations show your thought process and how your understanding evolved.

Please look at the following book: The Fundamentals of Creative Advertising - it will help you further understand the conceptual aspects of how advertising works.
